Lucy, Guy and Barnaby

This is a page just for you children of two of the finest people I had the privilege to know, Harry and Nancy. I have given this address on my private archive site only to you three in order to share a song I co-wrote with your Mom for the Big Yellow Bus show that toured the Omaha Schools and other venues in 1976. (Were any of you in the cast?)

The internet makes it possible for me to get some indication of what you three are doing these days. I feel certain your parents would be very proud of each of you. Whether or not I am entitled to share that pride – I feel it all the same.

Your Mom gave me the basic lines for this song, so most of these lyrics are straight from her, expressing sentiments that remain urgent, I think. This song is a prayer. I would not presume to explain to anyone what prayer represents, but it appears to be a universal human impulse that I experience regularly. So perhaps you will experience this, as I do, as a message from Nancy transcending the years.

Be Watchful (1976)
Lyrics co-written with Nancy Duncan

There are three more songs from The Big Yellow Bus I have yet to record:
(1) The title song
(2) Eyes Wide Open
(3) The Last Leaf to Fall
(a note on its lyric page says: “based on an idea of Lucy Duncan’s”)

This is a page on the archive I am compiling of my life’s work, which was accomplished between all the other things I spent my time on before retiring at the end of 2018. I have no aims for all this stuff beyond piling it up in one pile, but feel free to browse as you may be interested.

Scattered to the four corners of the globe as you are, I wish each of you the best, and hope there are some happy memories of our time together for you to recall, as there certainly are for me.
