Canto I | The City of Queen Glorianne, The Elven capitol, Is hard besieged by Archimag Who bargains for her soul. |
Canto II | The yeoman Fortus makes his way, (Pretended Enri’s man,) Confronting Faibelesius And learning as he can |
Canto III | Bold Fortus takes a new found friend, With him to Mammon’s Camp, Where in the blood of Britomart Is made a flowering lamp. |
Canto IV | Merlin appears to Fortus now, Speaks of the miracle, Then turns his path another way, Back to the capitol. |
Canto V | Fortus complies, but his heart breaks, For he is all alone; Until an unexpected friend Moves him to soldier on. |
Canto VI | Sons of Imaginatius Offend Queen Glorianne; Their father casts them in a cell Where Fortus joins the clan. |
Canto VII | In desperation, Archimag Conjures old Merlin’s ghost, Who prophesies he will prevail, Though lose what he loves most. |
Canto VIII | The yeoman brothers are aligned With Fortus’ strong intent, And through the aid of Loving Spright, Escape imprisonment. |
Canto IX | The rage of Archimago has Set loose his wicked host, Led by the knights, they do prevail, As foretold by the ghost. |
Canto X | Each brother finds a fiery rose That will not be consumed; And brings them to the central tower Where fighting is resumed. |
Canto XI | A sacrifice of mixing blood, Transforms a violent world Into a tree engulfed with flame, Into blank darkness hurled. |
Canto XII | A tree in flames that will not die, Marks both enduring life And marriage made upon the clouds, A husband, child and wife. |
